TREEDC Membership information Happy New Year!

2025 was another very productive year for the 108 mayors and 30 universities and colleges of the Tennessee Renewable Energy & Economic Development Council (TREEDC,) a 501 c (3) organization formed in 2008. TREEDC worked diligently to keep our members informed with newsletters, grant announcements, site visits, introductions, forums and phone calls. We also assisted several energy startups with marketing and outreach of their products. During 2025, TREEDC worked with the Tennessee Environmental Council to provide outreach regarding the benefits of recycling and solid waste management to assist our members with savings in solid waste and job creation. TREEDC also helped establish a statewide $4 million mesonet reporting system to assist communities with resiliency planning and implementation. In 2026, TREEDC is poised to assist our members with clean energy programs which will be administered by TREEDC Member Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) Office of Energy Programs. During 2025, TREEDC hosted an annual conference and awards program with Tennessee Tech University. We also worked with various local governments on determining the feasibility of streetlight conversions to LED. Spring City started an LED conversion program and Livingston commenced its Energy Infrastructure Project. TREEDC also partnered with the University of Tennessee Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) with its Rural Community Development Initiative Program to strengthen rural economies through outreach and resiliency. TREEDC West Tennessee Coordinator Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic became President of the Tennessee Municipal League (TML). We also assisted TML and MTAS with informational workshops for its members and creation of the Middle Tennessee Mayors Association. 2026 promises to be another exciting year. Thanks to our 17 years of cultivating and building relationships among our clean energy stakeholders, we will continue working closely with our members to promote renewable energy with economic development. Please consider becoming a member or renewing your annual membership today. See our attached dues schedule and membership application form. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

“The TREEDC has been instrumental in bringing the emerging Electric Vehicle (EV) industry and EV charge infrastructure considerations to local municipalities around the State of TN. Through their series of events, the EVProject effectively engaged community leaders in the EV readiness activities necessary to create a market for electric fuel. Acting as a resource, continuing the EV conversation and educating local governments, the TREEDC is a functional organization that connects relevant community priorities to industry happenings in a way that fosters the right conversations, with the right people, at the right time”.

“The impact of TREEDC regarding the adoption of renewable energy by the state of Tennessee has been pronounced.  The ability to communicate with the community leaders regarding the advantages of, in our case solar photovoltaics, has garnered us support and encouragement from the TREEDC membership.  The Tennessee Solar Energy Association (TSEA) expects to continue its contributions with regard the benefits of solar for communities in the state using TREEDC as a sounding board.  The varied membership of TREEDC makes the audience even more valuable.  Keep up the great work and count on TSEA for continued support”.
